REVELATIONS ON THE EPISTLE OF SAINT JOHN
Mood:  celebratory
Topic: THE LOVE OF GOD
Revelations on the Epistle of 1 John

1Jo 1:1   That which was from the beginning, (In the beginning was the Word, Jesus) which we have heard, (John and the disciples heard Him) which we have seen with our eyes, (John and the disciples saw Him with their eyes) which we have looked upon, (They watched Him daily) and our hands have handled, (they touched Him with their hands) of the Word of life;(  Jesus IS the Word of Life)

1Jo 1:2  (For the life was manifested, and we have seen [it], and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)
Jesus , the life, was revealed to the world. John , an eye witness, saw Him and is bering witness of that fact, that he saw the Word of God, Jesus, God in the flesh.(And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us)

1Jo 1:3   That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship [is] with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
John is making a declaration of His faith, declaring to the Church , that they can now not only come boldly before God, but also fellowship with Him.(the Father and the Son) This door to fellowship with God was opened as part of the atonement of Jesus.

1Jo 1:4  And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
1Jo 1:5  This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
(The message of John and the disciples (we) is that God is light. There is no darkness in God at all. He does not hide His will from us, nor his word in dark sayings, He does not cast us into darkness, He does not want us to be in the "dark" about His Word. Jesus is the Light of the world.
1Jo 1:6  If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
1Jo 1:7  But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

In Matthew 25, some are cast into outer darkness. This , I believe, is not talking about some eternal dark burning hell, but the hell of living and walking in the darkness now in this life. Spiritual darkness is to  be without the light of truth, to reject the truth in this life.

1Jo 1:8  If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1Jo 1:9  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1Jo 1:10  If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

Romans 3:23 says ALL have sinned. But Jesus died for them ALL, and for ALL mankind. Everyone has made mistakes and failed. Everyone deserves the wrath of God, but through Jesus' blood we have forgiveness and are reconciled with God.
