SIMPLE BUT PROFOUND TRUTHS IN THE BIBLE
The study of the Bible is the most important study on human life; it’s origin, history, present state, and future.
In this study of the simple truths found in the Bible, I hope to uncover the real jewels of God that have been covered up
by generations if tradition, fear, opposition, division, and bring to light the things that God is actually requiring of His
people today.
Many people live their lives in confusion and uncertainty in regards to the present and future, and have cast away the ancient
knowledge of our ancestors.
Many Christians do not recognize God’s voice for them amidst all of the other voices of the world that he is surrounded
with.
It can really get confusing today and many things can be misinterpreted, with all the New Age religions, cults, and self –proclaimed
prophets coming out of the woodwork today.
The purpose of this Hand Book is not to tell anyone what they should believe, but what certain things in the Bible mean to
me, and why I believe the way I do.
Everyone has to be willing to search for truth if you really want it. It won’t just come to you like superglue or Jello.
Don’t believe anyone just because they say so. The wise thing to do is to check it out for yourself.
In this Hand Book, I hope to inspire, encourage and provoke you to get into the Word yourself. I do have my own pet doctrines,
and I attempt to prove them by scripture, and common sense.
Someone once told me that 98% of Holy Spirit inspiration is common sense. Well, I don’t know if that is true or not,
but it may be close. I sure never saw any scriptures that said that, but if you use your common sense, you might find it is
as common a sense as any of your other senses, and could turn out to be a pretty good judge of whether you should do something
or not.
ETERNAL LIFE
So I will start off this missive with what is probably the most important subject in this entire Bible, and the reason that
has most people in the world chasing this religion and that one is none other than…..Eternal Life! This is also sometimes
called “Salvation” or “being “Born Again”, because most people are interested in NOT going to
a place the Bible calls Hell, where a kind of a spiritual fire burns and from which there is no escaping.
So we will see what the Bible has to say about this subject. I mean, what does the Bible say about Eternal Life, and what
is it really? Does the Bible give any definition for it? YOU bet it does! Jesus and John couldn’t have been any clearer
than what they both said.
If there was only one thing I would want to get across to someone I knew I would only meet one time, and had only one chance
to talk to them, it would be eternal life.
This is what Jesus came for to give us life, and to give it more abundantly.
Jhn 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that
they might have [it] more abundantly.
Jhn 6:27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of
man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.
Eternal life is not just skipping out on Hell, and getting our sins forgiven so we can exist forever in some sort of bliss.
I grant you there are probably millions of different conceptions about heaven, and what it is like, and what people will do
there.
However, let us see what the BIBLE says about this subject, so we can have an accurate perspective, and thus get the best
possible benefit from it.
The best place to learn about eternal life and to know what it really is would be from the words of Jesus Christ Himself,
so let’s see what Jesus had to say about eternal life, also called life eternal, everlasting life, salvation, being
born again, walking in newness of life, becoming a new creature, being “in Christ” and many other descriptions
of this new restored relationship with God.
Jhn 17:1 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son,
that thy Son also may glorify thee:
Jhn 17:2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
Jhn 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
The apostle John confirmed this truth to the early church in his first epistle over and over again. That eternal life was
not just a state of eternal being, but that it was actually an eternal personal relationship with Jesus, The Father, and the
Holy Spirit
That eternal life was, in actuality, Jesus Himself. Jesus IS that life, and having eternal life is knowing Jesus in a personal,
intimate way, through His words, and the Holy Spirit, who came to teach us all things.
1Jo 1:1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon,
and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
1Jo 1:2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen [it], and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which
was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)
1Jo 1:3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship
[is] with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
1Jo 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true,
and we are in him that is true, [even] in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
1Jo 5:11And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
1Jo 5:12 He that hath the Son hath life; [and] he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
So here we can see clearly that eternal live IS Jesus Christ. To have Jesus Christ IS to have eternal life, as it is a personal
relationship with God.
You can believe in Jesus and not develop a personal relationship with Him, but He desires this as it says in Revelations Rev
2:4
Nevertheless I have [somewhat] against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
You can live your life as a born again Christian just going to church and never letting the Word of God and the Holy Spirit
change your life and draw you into a close relationship with God, and still go to heaven when you die, but you are going to
miss out on the best part of what eternal life is all about. That is having a personal close relationship with the creator
of the universe.
I encourage you to search the scriptures by doing a word search and look up verses on eternal life, salvation, life eternal,
life, and everything that has to do with your eternal fate.
Only in this way can you establish and fix your heart so you can KNOW you have eternal life, and that you can KNOW you believe
in the Savior Jesus Christ, and nothing else will ever satisfy you.
Don’t just believe what people say, look it up for yourself. Would you be willing to put yours and your loved one’s
eternal future into the hands of a person or people you don’t even know?
